The Saint John Sea Dogs have announced the organization is getting additional help on the blue line.
The Calgary Flames and affiliate Stockton Heat announced on Thursday that 19-year-old defenceman Yan Kuznetsov has been assigned to the Sea Dogs.
The 6’4″ defenseman from Murmansk, Russia, was a second round selection (50th overall) by the Flames in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.
He was also a first round selection (22nd overall) by the Sea Dogs during the 2021 CHL Import Draft.
Kuznetsov joins Flames prospects Jeremie Poirier and Ryan Francis.
He played 12 games in the AHL this season, and six games in the AHL last season.
Before the 2020-21 AHL season, Kuznetsov played two season with the University of Connecticut Huskies.
He will join the Sea Dogs in Quebec for upcoming games.
The first home game Kuznetsov will play is against the Charlottetown Islanders on Saturday, Dec 11, at TD Station.
