Provincial health officials announced three COVID-19-related deaths and 71 new cases on Monday.
Public Health has confirmed a person 60-69 in the Fredericton region, a person 70-79 in the Saint John region, and a person 80-89 in the Saint John region have died as a result of COVID-19.
New cases reported today include 30 people in the Fredericton region, 16 in the Saint John region and 13 in the Moncton region.
A total of 49 New Brunswickers are hospitalized with the virus, including 18 in intensive care.
Following 60 recoveries, the active case count rises to 760. This includes 191 active cases in the Saint John region and 177 in the Moncton region.
People 50 and older are now eligible to schedule an appointment for a booster dose of an mRNA vaccine if six months have passed since their second dose.
In addition, a limited amount of the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine is available to eligible New Brunswickers over 18 years of age through a special appointment only.
Public Health reported today that 82 per cent of eligible New Brunswickers are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and 87.5 per cent have received their first dose.
The rate of new cases is 5.5 per 100,000 for the fully vaccinated, 7.3 per 100,000 for the partially vaccinated, and 27.2 per 100,000 for the unvaccinated.
Of those currently in hospital, the rate is 3.1 per 100,000 for the fully vaccinated, 12.2 per 100,000 for the partially vaccinated, and 20 per 100,000 for the unvaccinated.
Among those in the ICU, the rates are 0.8 per 100,000 for the fully vaccinated, 2.4 per 100,000 for the partially vaccinated, and 9.6 per 100,000 for the unvaccinated.
