Government officials, diplomats and other dignitaries will not be in attendance in Beijing at the 2022 winter games.
Canadian athletes will still be allowed and able to participate after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced a diplomatic boycott.
He stated that because of the numerous human rights violations Canadian government officials would not be travelling to China to watch the games.
The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) said in a statement,
Understands and respects the government’s decision and applauds the effort to draw an important distinction between the participation of athletes and the participation of government officials,
