Students at Centennial School in Saint John will be learning from home Friday for a fourth straight day.
The north end school has had operational days since Tuesday due to a number of COVID-19 cases.
No details have been released as to how many cases have been confirmed at the K-5 school.
Public Health said Thursday that 12 cases had been confirmed at 11 schools since Wednesday.
That included Centennial School and St. John the Baptist/King Edward School in the Anglophone South School District.
Provincial officials said about 80 per cent of the active cases within schools are in elementary schools.
“Often the virus was transmitted outside of the school setting or in instances when safety measures were not followed,” the province said in a news release.
Nearly half of the record 174 new cases announced across the province on Thursday involved people under the age of 19.
