A 26-year-old Cap-Pelé man is facing a charge of arson with damage to property following a fire which destroyed a church.
Samuel Vautour appeared in Moncton Provincial Court via tele-remand Friday morning after his arrest yesterday.
Early Thursday morning, firefighters from several area departments battled a blaze which gutted the century old Saint-Timothée church on Route 15 in Shemogue.
RCMP say investigators are trying to determine if this fire is connected to other fires in the region over the last few months.
Mounties did confirm the fire is not related to the homicide in nearly Petit-Cap which occurred earlier this week.
