A partnership is mixing in a snap of flavour into the cream liquor this holiday season.
Moonshine Creek Distillery and Crosby’s Molasses have released the gingersnap cream liquor.
The liquor is made with real Canadian rum, which is made from Crosby’s molasses.
“That would be a real disservice if I made the product and didn’t use real Canadian rum made from their molasses, opposed to purchasing rum from the Caribbean, which some producers do in Canada,” said Jeremiah Clark, CEO of Moonshine Creek.
Project discussions between the two companies began in early 2020.
“While we are one of Canada’s longest-standing food companies, we embrace innovation and collaboration, especially with Maritime-based businesses,” William Crosby, vice-president of sales & business development of Crosby Molasses, said in a release.
“We were excited to see what the boys could do with molasses and got to brainstorming some ideas. When we landed on gingersnap, we knew it would be the perfect leadup to the holidays,” he saided.
The cream liquor was supposed to be released by Dec. 1, however, the pandemic and supply chain issues pushed the release date.
“We wanted to release about 15,000 bottles in the initial release, but we still experienced supply chain problems, so our initial release is only about 6,000 bottles and another release in January for the difference,” said Clark.
The gingersnap cream liquor will rolling out over a 7-day period, from December 13 to 20 at NB Liquor Stores and costs $34.99. It is also available online and at the distillery.
Clark added the cream liquor goes well with vanilla ice cream or pouring over fruit.
“But, if you like the flavour it will go well with so many things.”
