Health officials in New Brunswick announced 109 new cases of COVID-19 and two virus-related deaths on Tuesday.
The virus has taken the life of a person in their 70s in the Moncton region and a person in their 60s in from the Fredericton region.
Recoveries nearly kept pace with the number of new cases, as 104 people have recuperated, which means the active caseload rises to 1,051.
Of the new cases reported, 20 are in the Moncton region, 15 are in the Saint John region, 46 are in the Fredericton region, five are in the Edmundston region, six are in the Campbellton region, six are in the Bathurst region, and 11 are in the Miramichi region.
Specific samples continue to be tested at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre’s microbiology laboratory in Moncton to determine their COVID-19 variant, according to a provincial news release.
44 New Brunswickers are now in the hospital battling COVID-19, and of those hospitalized, 14 are in intensive care.
Public Health reported today that 82.4 per cent of eligible New Brunswickers are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, 88.7 per cent have received their first dose, and 9.6 per cent have received a booster dose.
The rate of new cases is 8.9 per 100,000 for the fully vaccinated, 8.4 per 100,000 for the partially vaccinated, and 43.2 per 100,000 for the unvaccinated.
Of those currently in hospital, the rate is 2.9 per 100,000 for the fully vaccinated, 6.3 per 100,000 for the partially vaccinated, and 19.9 per 100,000 for the unvaccinated.
Among those in the ICU, the rates are 0.5 per 100,000 for the fully vaccinated, 0 per 100,000 for the partially vaccinated, and 9.5 per 100,000 for the unvaccinated.
