A Saint John family has a brand new home just in time for Christmas.
Tyler DesRoches, his wife Amanda, and their three kids — Isabella, Gavin, and Gabriel — are living in the home made possible by Habitat for Humanity.
DesRoches said the process to become eligible for a Habitat home wasn’t too complex. He said they did have to fill out a few forms and meet certain criteria in order to qualify.
“There had to be a need or change [in their living situation] so, not enough space or accessibility or something like that and it would be a financial burden to correct those issues,” DesRoches said.
DesRoches said he would recommend it to other people if they are able to do the required 500 volunteer hours for the organization.
The family recently moved into their new house on Kappa Avenue on the east side.
He said it’s good being in the house and joked that it is quite a bit different.
“It’s clean because we haven’t been there for 10 years,” DesRoches said.
DesRoches called the house “a good Christmas present,” adding they put the tree up this week and are glad to have it done.
Welcome to 12 Kappa Ave!
