Members of the Saint John Fire Department spent Christmas Day battling two fires.
Crews received reports of a fire in a Waterloo Street apartment building shortly after 9 a.m., according to a post on Facebook.
Upon arrival, crews noticed a significant amount of fire and smoke coming through the windows and roof of a top-floor apartment. Command called for more resources to stop the fire from spreading to other apartments, the post states.
The blaze caused fire, smoke, and water damage to several homes.
“As crews were clearing the scene on Waterloo Street, comm centre began receiving 911 calls for a barn on fire in the Golden Grove Rd area of East SJ,” reads the post.
Crews arriving on the scene were met by a barn fully engulfed in fire, which required firefighters to remain on scene into the afternoon to ensure hot spots were contained.
There were no reports of injuries to civilians or firefighters.
