The New Brunswick Teachers’ Association named a new president in August of 2021.
Connie Keating says it was quite an honour, “To represent close to 6,000 teachers in this province, to be their voice and to do that role justice. To ensure what they feel is important is heard and that the right conversations are had with the right people, such as with government.”
Keating says she had an idea what the role would be like, but then entering during a pandemic, that totally changed the perspective, and created more challenges, “It thought that I would be the post-COVID president, not believing that actually we would still be very much in the throws of a pandemic. So when I took office on August 3rd, I hit the ground running. Because I have such an outstanding staff at the NBTA, we have worked together to get to key issues that are affecting teachers and as well as students.”
