Mounties say a man has died following a shooting incident involving RCMP officers in Kingston, near Hampton.
In a news release, RCMP said officers were called to a home shortly before 4 a.m. Friday and “engaged with the man who was the subject of the complaint.”
“The situation evolved resulting in both attending members discharging their firearms,” said the release.
First aid was administered on the scene, but the man later died from his injuries in the hospital.
One officer was also injured during the incident. They were treated in the hospital for non-life threatening injuries and is now back at home.
New Brunswick RCMP has asked the Nova Scotia Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) to conduct an external investigation into the incident.

“The members involved in the incident have been offered support services, and as part of standard practice their duty statuses are being reviewed,” said the RCMP.
