Performance venues and culture festivals affected by the COVID-19 pandemic can get some financial help from the Government of New Brunswick.
New Brunswick’s Ticket Incentive program offers $5 for each ticket sold at eligible events between April 2021 and March 1, 2022.
Performances must feature New Brunswick artists and content in the music, theatre, spoken word, literature, film, visual arts and dance industries. Successful applicants will receive a $5 incentive per ticket sold, up to these maximum grant levels:
- venues with a small seating capacity (150 people or fewer) – $750;
- venues with medium seating capacity (151- 500 people) – $2,000;
- venues with large seating capacity (more than 500 people) – $4,000;
- arts and culture festivals with 1,999 or fewer attendees – $4,000; and
- arts and culture festivals with 2,000 or more attendees – $6,000.
Tammy Scott-Wallace, New Brunswick minister of tourism, heritage and culture, said in a news release the program is a direct response to the challenges faced by local artists. The province will contribute $300,000 through its Arts and Culture Reactivation and Incentive Fund.
“New Brunswickers want to support live entertainment by New Brunswick professional artists, and we are happy to help venues and spaces throughout the province during this difficult period,” said Scott-Wallace in the release.
“I encourage all venues that are eligible to apply for the program.”
The province says indoor venues or festivals must ensure those in facilities are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or testing negative on a regular basis.
The program runs until March 1, 2022. More details can be found here.
