The 2021 Festive R.I.D.E. Campaign ran through December.
During the month, members of the Saint John Police Force saw 7,428 vehicles go through checkpoints.
Officers also conducted 648 alcohol screening tests during the campaign.
There were nine arrests, including five for impaired driving and four for refusal to provide a breath sample.
Eight drivers also received seven-day suspensions, and 16 vehicles were towed.
“The R.I.D.E. Campaign has been a huge success and the Saint John Police Force, along with officials from the Department of Justice and Public Safety thank the public for their cooperation and continued promotion of the dangers of impaired driving,” mentioned Constable Travis Jones, Festive R.I.D.E. Coordinator in a release.
The Festive R.I.D.E. Campaign is a collaborative effort involving the Saint John Police Force, the Department of Justice and Public Safety, and MADD Canada.
