The City of Saint John is looking for feedback regarding its bi-monthly alternate side parking program.
The program helps snow plow, street sweeping, and other maintenance work by only allowing vehicles to park on one side of the street for the first half of the month, then the other side for the other half.
It has been in the South Central Peninsula for several years and was established in the north, east and west parts of Saint John in 2019. Streets in these areas had parking that alternated nightly between Nov. 15 and Apr. 30 each year.
“We’re looking for public feedback on whether the program sufficiently balances the need to provide services versus providing convenient on-street parking for people versus a few alternatives solutions that we’ve put out to the public for suggestion,” said Tim O’Reilly, director of public works for the city.
O’Reilly added residents can fill out an online survey, which runs until Jan. 14.
Results of the survey will go to Common Council in February.
