Sculpture Saint John is set to return this summer and in a new location.
The final edition of the event — delayed two years by the pandemic — will begin this August at Long Wharf.
Executive director Diana Alexander said the break gave them time to really look at everything and consider how to deal with COVID.
“Our event is spread over a long period of time. It’s outdoors and spread over a large area,” Alexander said.
Alexander says eight new sculptures will be added in locations like uptown Saint John, Deer Island, Moncton, and Dieppe.
She called the event a great draw for tourism.
“We figure it will take about four days if people wanted to go around to the whole trail of 38 pieces and look at them and enjoy them and the communities that they’re in,” Alexander said.
Three artists are returning: Hampton’s Jim Boyd along with Phil Savage and Songol Telek from Turkey.
Sculptors are also coming from Bulgaria, Latvia, Belarus and the Republic of Georgia to participate in Sculpture Saint John.
Of the 38 sculptures created since the event began, 20 will be located in Greater Saint John.
