You might not want to keep a close watch on your mailbox if you’re expecting a parcel.
Canada Post says you can expect delays over the next few weeks due to staffing shortages sparked by Omicron.
“With the rapidly changing situation regarding COVID-19 and the Omicron variant across Canada, we’re experiencing an impact on staffing,” a news release says “We’re responding by implementing contingency plans where necessary and adjusting our operations to serve Canadians.”
The service is looking at what it can do to help, including reducing hours and closing some post offices for a short period of time.
“While we respond to this current situation, we continue to prioritize the health and safety of our people and the communities we serve,” Canada Post says. “In addition to our Mandatory Vaccination Practice, we’re continuing to follow COVID-19 safety protocols in the workplace.”
The postal service asks for your patience and understanding saying it’s an evolving situation due to the latest wave of COVID-19.
