Some court hearings in New Brunswick are being postponed as the province moves to Level 3 of the winter plan.
The news came late Thursday afternoon, just hours after provincial officials announced new measures to combat the spread of COVID-19.
The Provincial Court of New Brunswick said most matters for those not in custody will be adjourned until Jan. 31 at 9:30 a.m. to set new dates.
That includes trials, trial continuations, sentencing hearings or other hearings, preliminary inquiries and decisions, unless specified by the chief judge.
Matters for those being held in custody, including bail hearings, will continue as scheduled.
Any trials, trial continuations, sentencing hearings and decisions for an accused will proceed as scheduled.

In the Court of Queen’s Bench, all trials and other in-person matters in progress will continue.
All scheduled criminal matters where the accused is in custody will also go ahead, except for jury trials, which have been suspended through Feb. 28.
Most in-person criminal matters in which the accused is not in custody will be adjourned.
