New Brunswick RCMP say a six-year-old boy who was at the centre of an Amber Alert has been found safe.
Police said the boy was located in the Whitney area, west of Miramichi, late Tuesday morning.
Investigators said a 33-year-old woman was also taken into police custody.
“Police would like to thank the public for their assistance. More information will be shared when available,’ Mounties said in a news release.
RCMP said the boy had last been seen at a home in the Douglastown area of Miramichi around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Officers believed he had been taken from the home by his mother, who does not have custody of him.
The woman, who police said may have been armed, was last seen driving an SUV. The vehicle was later located near a snowmobile trail in the Whitney.
Update 11:50 – The New Brunswick RCMP has located the six-year-old boy in the #Whitney area, who was the subject of the Amber Alert issued on January 25, 2022. The 33-year-old woman was taken into police custody. Both individuals are safe.
