Over 101,000 booster doses have been administered through clinics at pharmacies and regional health authority clinics over a two-week period.
“I want to thank every New Brunswicker who has rolled up their sleeve for a booster shot, as well as the nurses, pharmacists and other health professionals who are administering doses in regional health authority clinics and pharmacies across the province,” said Dr. Jennifer Russell, chief medical officer of health.
As of Tuesday, 39.4 per cent of those eligible have received their booster dose, 83.9 per cent had two doses of a COVID vaccine, and 91.8 per cent had one dose.
“We still need everyone who is eligible for a booster to get one, as being fully protected through vaccine is our most effective way to protect the health system,” said Russell.
The rate of new PCR cases is 35.7 per 100,000 for those considered “protected” — having received their second dose within six months and/or having received their booster dose — and 62.9 per 100,000 for those with partial or no protection.
Of those currently in hospital, the rate is 24.8 per 100,000 for those considered protected and 77.7 per 100,000 for those with partial or no protection.
Among those in the ICU, the rates are 5.8 per 100,000 for those considered protected and 27.1 per 100,000 for those with partial or no protection.
