New Brunswickers are spending their Saturday digging out again after a major blast of winter.
The fourth winter storm of 2022 took aim at Southern New Brunswick on Thursday, with a continuous snowfall all day Friday.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Paula Sutherland says Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick was the hardest hit, receiving around 50 centimetres of snow.
Sussex and Fredericton got around 30 centimetres.
There’s around 20 centimetres on the ground in Saint John, but Sutherland says the area was hit with a mix of snow and ice pellets.
The winds were not as vicious as previous storms in January.
Sutherland says the highest wind gust recorded on Friday was 55 kilometres in the Saint John region, with Moncton receiving gusts up to 50 kilometres.
Schools and most businesses closed their doors on Friday.
Codiac Transpo in Moncton and Saint John Transit announced on Thursday night that service would be suspended all day Friday.
