Environment Canada is warning of significant snow, rain, wind, and a flash freeze later this week.
The national weather agency issued a special weather statement early Wednesday morning.
According to the statement, flurries will turn to showers Wednesday evening and transition to periods of heavy rain Thursday night.
Between 25 and 50 millimetres of rain is expected, with higher amounts possible along the Fundy coast.
“Localized flooding is likely with heavy rain falling on the frozen snow covered ground,” said the statement.
Strong southwesterly winds will also gust to between 80 and 100 kilometres per hour.
Forecasters say temperatures will fall rapidly Friday morning as a cold front moves from north to south.
“Any standing water on roads or walkways will quickly freeze leading to hazardous travel conditions,” said the statement.
The rain will also transition to snow during that time, with between five and 15 centimetres possible.
Conditions are expected to improve on Friday afternoon, according to forecasters.
