Bail has been denied for one of the organizers of the so-called “Freedom Convoy” protests in Ottawa.
Tamara Lich will remain in custody following her arrest last week.
Ontario Court Justice Julie Bourgeois has ruled if released Lich is likely to re-offend and present a risk to public safety.
The judge said she was not persuaded by Lich’s promise to return to Alberta.
Bourgeois also noted upon conviction Lich could face lengthy imprisonment.
Another organizer of the protests, Pat King, is also in court for a bail hearing on Tuesday.
Over the weekend, police arrested nearly 200 people and towed 115 vehicles in Ottawa.
It was part of a massive operation to clear out protestors against COVID-19 restrictions who had occupied the downtown for nearly four weeks.
