The race for the next leader of the Liberal Party of New Brunswick has grown once again.
Susan Holt of Fredericton has become the fifth person to officially put their name forward.
The tech executive said she believes it is time for a “bold change” in the province.
“I think we need a new politics,” Holt said during her virtual campaign launch on Tuesday night.
“It’s time for collaboration and empathy to find a home in New Brunswick politics. It’s time for a fresh new leader with open ears and an open mind who wears her heart on her sleep.”
This is not Holt’s first foray into provincial politics. She ran for the Liberals in 2018 in the riding of Fredericton South, placing a distant second to Green Party leader David Coon.
She is currently the chief growth officer for PLATO Testing and PQA Testing in Fredericton.
“I have a vision for New Brunswick where everyone has an affordable place to call home, where we’re an environmental leader powered by clean energy and leaving a sustainable ecosystem for future generations, a place where Indigenous peoples are respected,” said Holt.
“A place where bold ideas drive a robust economy and a place where neighbours and communities are empowered within a strong democracy. A place where everyone has access to the critical services that they need.”
Four others have also announced their plans to run for the Liberal leadership: Donald Arseneault, Seamus Byrne, Robert Gauvin, and T.J. Harvey.
