Based on the temperatures yesterday, it definitely didn’t feel like February.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Jill Mapea says there were five temperature records broken in Moncton, Fredericton, Grand Manan, Miscou island and St. Stephen.
“Moncton saw a record of 13.7 yesterday, Fredericton saw 16.4, Grand Manan area saw 9.5 and up in Miscou, they saw 5.1 degrees.”
St. Stephen was the hot spot in the province, with a high temperature of 19.6 degrees celsius.
In Southeast New Brunswick, a pop up storm brought thunder and lightning.
Mapea says yesterday’s weather could be described as unusual, “With all that warm air, we did have a cold front going through and it was just supposed to produce some showers but we managed to get some thunderstorms from it. That is pretty rare to have thunderstorms in February, but not out of the question.”
She adds the warmer temperatures didn’t stick around, by last night, they dipped back down below zero.
The highs today are around minus 6.
