Fire officials in Saint John say they dealt with two simultaneous fires on the city’s east side on Tuesday.
Platoon Chief Josh Hennessy said the first fire happened on Glen Road in the Glen Falls neighbourhood.
“A single-family dwelling had a structure fire in the first floor. Crews were able to achieve a quick knockdown and extinguish that fire,” said Hennessy.
As crews were preparing to clear that scene, Hennessy said another fire was reported at 220 Bayside Drive.
He said firefighters were met with heavy smoke and flames coming from the first storey of the building.
“The fire then extended into the second division. Crews launched an aggressive interior attack and were able to achieve knockdown,” said Hennessy.
Hennessy said no injuries were reported in either blaze.
Crews also responded to a fire on Wyatt Crescent on the city’s east side around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Canadian Red Cross.
The organization arranged emergency lodging, meals, winter clothing purchases and other basics for two adults and one child displaced by the fire on Wyatt Crescent, and for eight adults and two teenage children from the Bayside Drive fire.
A spokesperson for the organization said help was not requested after the fire on Glen Road.
