A heads up if you travel into the United States through the Milltown Port of Entry.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is reducing the hours of operation at the crossing.
Starting March 13, the crossing will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Atlantic Time) rather than 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. (7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Atlantic Time).
“By reducing Milltown’s hours of operation to peak travel periods, CBP will be able to redeploy those resources locally to better serve the Calais, Maine border crossing community, Jennifer De La O, Boston Director of Field Operations, said in a news release.
According to CBP, the Milltown POE processed about 85 per cent of its traffic between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The two nearby border crossings at Ferry Point and International Avenue will continue to operate 24/7.
