Officials say a family of seven has been displaced after a fire in their home in Rothesay.
Crews were called to the scene on Kirkpatrick Road around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Division Chief Shawn White said crews could see heavy fire and smoke coming from the back of the home.
“Crews attacked the fire on the exterior at the beginning and transitioned inside to put the remainder of the fire out,” White said.
White said there were no injuries, adding they do not think the fire was suspicious.
“The home did sustain significant damage both fire and smoke. The family that was living there is now in the care of the Red Cross,” White said.
In a news release, the Canadian Red Cross said it assisted two adults and five children with emergency lodging, food, winter clothing and other basics while they await a damage appraisal and further help through insurance.
White said fire crews were on scene for about an hour and a half.
Gondola Point Road was closed for about an hour but has since reopened.
