The founder of Sistema New Brunswick says doubling the number of youth in the program over the next 15 years is designed to strategically invest in a whole new generation.
Ken MacLeod says the goal is to give youth hopes, dreams and aspirations as part of their 10,000 Children growth campaign.
“That’s a number that will be seen and will be heard and that will be transformational not only in the lives of our children, but also in their families, our communities and our province.”
Now serving one-thousand kids daily with an aim to double that number, Ken MacLeod says the program goes beyond just being part of an orchestra.
“In the process, they’re learning really important things like focus and discipline, respect for others, empathy and teamwork,” says MacLeod.
He notes how youth are graduating and furthering their studies in fields like astrophysics, medical science, linguistics and even music programs.
MacLeod adds all of our children have talent but not all have opportunity which is something Sistema strives to give them.
In its growth campaign, Sistema has raised $7.2 million so far thanks to a $1 million donation from UNI Financial this week.
The goal is reaching $12 million by the end of this year.
