The president of Canadians for Affordable Energy believes the interrupter clause will likely be invoked by New Brunswick’s Energy and Utilities Board tonight to lower fuel prices.
Dan McTeague thinks gasoline should fall by at least nine cents per litre while diesel could drop by at least 24 cents per litre.
The significant drops come after sizeable increases during the regular weekly setting overnight which saw gasoline jump by nearly four cents and diesel climb by almost 14 cents per litre.
Crude oil prices have been volatile since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine last month and have impacted retail gasoline and diesel prices on both sides of the Atlantic.
Any adjustments made at midnight by the Energy and Utilities Board will depend on market activity.
