Entity 51 needs a name and members of the public can suggest one.
It’s the current name of Grand Bay-Westfield and a section of the Local Service District of Westfield West, which will amalgamate as part of local governance reform.
The naming committee calls the process part of ensuring Entity 51 is a welcoming community where people can live, grow and thrive.
“The Committee is excited to give the residents of our two communities a democratic choice on the name of our town. We hope every resident will take the time to submit their ideas for the contest in this first stage of the name review!,” Naming Committee Chair Jon Taylor said.
Names can be submitted online or in-person at the Grand Bay-Westfield town office.
People of all ages, schools, organizations and businesses are encouraged to take part in the naming process.
Name ideas must be submitted by March 28th at 11:59 p.m.
Suggestions chosen on the final ballot will be entered into a random draw to win a gift card for a local business.
Residents in both communities will have the chance to vote on the final name for Entity 51, with more details to be released in the coming weeks.
It was predetermined by council that the name Grand Bay-Westfield will automatically be included on the final voting ballot.
