Pizza Salvatoré is getting ready to serve its first slices to customers in Quispamsis this week.
For the family-owned, third-generation company, it also marks the first Maritime restaurant for Pizza Salvatoré, which already boasts over 40 locations in the province of Quebec alone.
Élisabeth Abbatiello, co-owner of Pizza Salvatoré and also its vice president of communications, bought the company with her three brothers, Sébastien, Frédéric and Guillaume Jr., and sister Katarina in 2018.
The business, which specializes in pizzas and poutines, was originally started by their grandfather in Quebec in 1964.
Abbatiello told Huddle in January that since April 2021, Pizza Salvatoré has opened a new restaurant roughly every 14 days.
The growth is par for the course for the company under the latest generation of Abbatiello’s, who have more than doubled the number of restaurants since taking over the family business.
Opening Thursday
Opening this week at 184 Hampton Road in Quispamsis, its latest expansion has been busy behind the scenes with an ambitious hiring campaign.
Abbatiello confirmed Monday that almost 40 of its 50 anticipated staff have already signed on with construction recently wrapping in preparation for the first arrival of food on Tuesday.
“We have the three managers — so these are already chosen, and they are working with us right now,” said Abbatiello, who also confirmed in January that each time a Pizza Salvatoré opens, 50 employees are required to run the location, a number that serves as the company’s main goal in its local recruitment base.
More NB locations planned for this summer
Pizza Salvatoré’s entry into New Brunswick is not limited to Quispamsis.
Abbatiello says leases have been signed for two additional N.B. locations, one in Miramichi, slated for an early June opening, and another for later this summer in Dieppe.
The chain will celebrate its grand opening this week in Quispamsis by giving 100 large pizzas to community, sports, educational and cultural organizations throughout the town, something Abbatiello says Pizza Salvatoré does each time it opens a new location.
“It is also a way for us to thank the citizens and the community for welcoming us,” said Abbatiello. “This initiative is also a great opportunity for us to learn about the different challenges in the area and it allows us to get involved in a long-term perspective.”
In getting to know the community, the Abbatiello’s are inviting any interested organization to contact them at: client@pizzasalvatore.com
Last year, the chain gave out over 2,000 free large pizzas in a multitude of locations across Quebec.
