Saint John police say a 17-year-old boy missing since Monday afternoon has been found and is safe.
Police said the teen was located shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday. He was treated by paramedics and returned home to his family.
“We are grateful to all our citizens for their genuine concern and to those who provided information that assisted us in the safe return of this young man to his family. Thank you Saint John for making a difference,” police Chief Robert Bruce said in a statement.
The boy was last seen at Centre scolaire Samuel-de-Champlain in Millidgeville around 3:30 p.m. Monday.
Police and members of two ground search and rescue groups searched a designated area around the school on Tuesday evening but did not locate him.
On Wednesday, officers canvassed residences in the area of the school and the fire department helped search nearby shorelines.
Investigators said they received several possible sightings of him in the area of the Boars Head Nature Preserve at around 6 p.m. Monday and Ragged Point Road at around 9 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Police had asked people living or working in the area to check their properties and outbuildings, including any video surveillance footage.
