The Government of New Brunswick has a new resource that aims to help newcomers and employers navigate its immigration process.
Opportunities NB launched Immigration Navigator to steer immigration candidates, information seekers and prospective entrepreneurs in the right direction by helping them navigate the immigration process and support employers’ access to skilled workers.
It’s similar to Business Navigator, which launched in 2019. It helps business owners and entrepreneurs navigate the regulatory challenges of starting, owning and operating a business.
According to Arlene Dunn, minister of Opportunities New Brunswick, the province’s population growth has surpassed 800,000 and continues to grow steadily — primarily due to immigration.
Immigration numbers have more than doubled since 2017, with the number of international students more than tripling since 2019.
“New Brunswick’s population growth strategy is working,” said Dunn in a news release.
“Our population is continuing to increase, largely due to immigration, and we are dedicated to improving the experience for those whose dream it is to live in our beautiful province.”
The provincial government is also working with Ottawa to seek more nominations and faster processing times to ease demographic challenges and help meet employers’ labour demands.
Employers are also encouraged to use Immigration Navigator when they have questions about hiring international workers or newcomers living in New Brunswick.
“We recognize there is a shortage of labour, and the success and growth of New Brunswick businesses is dependent upon access to talent,” said Dunn.
“Our Immigration Navigator service will help steer newcomers and employers in the right direction by providing tailored support.”
