Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood are celebrating the 25th anniversary of their seminal duet “In Another’s Eyes” this week. The pair chatted about the song on Brooks’ Inside Studio G Monday night. Come to find out, Brooks was nearly staring into another female singer’s eyes during the song. Trisha was initially too busy to record the song, so Brooks tracked with another band and female singer.
Eventually, the couple made the scheduling work, and “In Another’s Eyes” became a No. 1 hit.
Over the past couple of years, Breland has made a name for himself as one of country music’s most in-demand collaborators: He’s worked with the likes of Sam Hunt, Mickey Guyton, Thomas Rhett and Keith Urban, and his team-up with Dierks Bentley and Hardy, “Beers on Me,” was a No. 1 hit at country radio.
As he readies the release of his full-length debut album, Cross Country, Breland is continuing that trend of high-power collaborations, this time in a duet with Lady A.
The two acts shared an R&B-laced slow jam called “Told You I Could Drink” on Friday (Aug. 5), and Breland says working with the country trio was a longtime personal goal.
It has been 45 years since Reba McEntire broke into the country genre with her self-titled debut record.
To celebrate the career milestone, Reba jumped on social media Monday evening to share the album cover art. Along with the old-school graphic that displays her signature red hair, and she leaked a Grand Ole Opry performance video of her singing “Why Can’t He Be You.”
Reba was discovered in 1974, following a remarkable rendition of the national anthem at a Rodeo final in Oklahoma City. At the time, McEntire was in a sibling band with her brother Pake and sister Susie.
However, it wasn’t until 1978 that she hit the Top Twenty with “Three Sheets in the Wind” with Jacky Ward.
To date, she has 50 Top 10 singles under her belt, sold more than 85 million records, and has become one of the best-selling female musicians in history. Reba continues to keep up the momentum, as she is gearing up to embark on her nationwide tour with Terri Clark.
