Team New Brunswick’s medal count remains at 14 at the Canada Summer Games in Niagara, Ont.
Our athletes have won two gold, four silver and eight bronze medals since the games began last weekend.
The men’s box lacrosse team defeated Prince Edward Island 6-4 on Thursday. The two teams will meet again Friday, with the winner advancing to an evening quarter-final match against Ontario.
Men’s softball lost a pair of games on Thursday. They fell 4-0 against British Columbia and 8-4 to Manitoba. They will play Quebec and Ontario in a pair of games on Friday.
In canoe kayak, Kyra Hector of Quispamsis finished eighth in the K1 200 metre while Jon Magee of Rothesay placed seventh in the men’s K1 200 metre. The K1 5000 metre women’s and men’s events take place on Friday.
In rowing, the men’s four advanced to Saturday’s A final. The women’s double, women’s four, women’s eight, and men’s lightweight double advanced to Saturday’s B finals.
Our women’s soccer team lost in penalty kicks to Nova Scotia on Thursday. They will return to action on Saturday.
The road cycling road race saw Émilie McIntyre of Memramcook, Laurence Arseneau of Moncton, and Florence Levesque of Dieppe, place 14th, 23rd and 29th in the women’s event. In the men’s event Noah Lydon of Fredericton, Maxime Ouellette of Grand Falls, Pascal LeBlanc of Notre-Dame de Kent, and Colby Sirois of Grand Falls finished 28th, 30th, 37th, and 39th.
Our track and field squad returns to competition on Friday after a three-medal performance on Wednesday.
The women volleyballers face off against Prince Edward Island while the men play Yukon.
Sailing returns for a pair of laser radial female and laser male races for Connor Sullivan and Morgan Haslett, both of Saint John.
