The 2022 Saint John cruise ship season ramps up this week with three ships in a row.
The visits will add as many as 9,000 people to the uptown core between Tuesday and Thursday.
A busy week begins with Adventure of the Seas on Tuesday, followed by the first visit of Carnival Legend on Wednesday and the return of Norwegian Breakaway on Thursday.
Natalie Allaby, cruise development manager for Port Saint John, said the city welcomes two brand new vessels next week when Norwegian Joy and Carnival Magic make their first calls.
“We think it is the first time we’ve ever had two inaugural calls happen on the exact same day since our cruise history started back in 1989,” Allaby said.
Allaby said everyone is excited to see the ships again.
“When you talk to business owners, when you talk to the new vendors in the Area 506 Waterfront Container Village, everyone is thrilled to have this sector back after two long years and maybe some businesses didn’t realize prior to 2019 that cruise ships do support your business in an important way,” Allaby said.
The first triple-ship day comes on September 20th.
