Despite being 96 years old and in failing health, one New Brunswick senator was caught off guard by the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
Saint John Senator Jim Quinn marveled at her 70 years on the throne.
“A woman who is a world leader in maintaining composure [and] her dignity. The example she set for people who hold positions and the humbleness with which she conducted herself. An absolute example of how to conduct oneself,” Quinn said.
Quinn thinks King Charles III will do an excellent job as the monarch.
“He has been a controversial person throughout the years, there is no question, but you saw that shift occur. I think he will be stepping up to the plate and emulating the behavior of his mom and that example she set for all of us,” he said.
Quinn met the King during his 2012 visit to New Brunswick.
