Power restoration efforts continue in New Brunswick following post-tropical storm Fiona.
NB Power reported more than 9,600 customers were off the grid as of 11 a.m. Monday.
The utility is still dealing with more than 650 separate outages across the province.
Most of the affected customers are in the southeastern part of the province.
There are 3,205 customers without power in the Shediac-Cap-Pelé region, 2,219 in the Sackville-Port Elgin area, 1,444 in Moncton-Riverview-Dieppe, and 2,051 in the Kent district.
The utility also reported 155 homes and businesses without electricity on the Acadian Peninsula, 576 customers in the Central York-Sunbury region, and 12 in the Kennebecasis Valley-Fundy region.
Estimated restoration times on NB Power’s website show most customers should have their power restored by late Monday evening.
In a tweet late Sunday afternoon, the utility said as customer outages are restored in some communities, crews are being relocated where they are most needed.
Elsewhere, more than 185,000 homes and businesses remain without power in Nova Scotia, where crews are dealing with more than 7,200 individual outages.
Spokesperson Matt Drover said hundreds of power poles are down, especially in Cape Breton, where there is extensive damage.
Drover said their biggest challenge going forward will be getting crews into difficult areas.
“In some locations, we have whole streets where trees have come down and broken almost every pole along that street,” said Drover.
It could be Wednesday or Thursday before power is back on in some areas of the province.
There are also nearly 81,000 customers still without power on Prince Edward Island as of early Monday morning.
