A rough start to the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League season continues for the Saint John Sea Dogs.
The defending Memorial Cup champions dropped a pair of weekend home games against Moncton and Québec.
Saint John (2-7) is now in the midst of a six-game losing streak and sits at the bottom of the 18-team standings.
In their first game of the weekend on Saturday night, the Sea Dogs lost to the Moncton Wildcats 7-4.
Pavel Simek scored his first QMJHL goal for the Sea Dogs. Other goals came from captain Charlie DesRoches, Brady Burns, and Vincent Despont.
Then on Sunday afternoon, Saint John fell to the Québec Remparts 6-2. Peter Reynolds and Cole Burbidge hit the back of the net for the Sea Dogs.
Saint John returns to action on Thursday night with a home game against Gatineau.
