A recently retired Moncton area woman wants to spread the word that being in nature is a healthy experience.
Heather Fraser started her own business earlier this year which is called Explore Nature’s Bounty.
“It’s all about connecting people to nature and the outdoors through experience-based programs, retreats and workshops done by season. I have four seasonal programs throughout the year.”
Fraser says her current program is “Foraging for Fall Flavours” and she has expertise in edible and medicinal plants in the wild.
“For my business, it’s all about promoting the natural health and wellness that comes from our backdoor – the Acadian forest.”
Earlier this week, she led a tour in the forest with a group from Europe and Asia.
She said they were able to take some of the knowledge they learned here back home with them.
With a diverse background in forestry, Fraser worked for the City of Moncton for three decades where she led projects in developing and managing the forests in the Irishtown Nature Park, Mapleton Park, McLaughlin and Turtle Creek Watersheds.
She also managed Moncton’s maple sugar camp for 20 years before retiring in February.
