A New Brunswick teen recently got the chance to rub elbows with some of the well-known names in Sci-Fi.
Fourteen-year-old Sarah Hackett of Moncton was awarded a trip to Hal-Con, after winning a young Storyteller contest.
Hal-Con, which is the biggest Sci-Fi convention in Atlantic Canada, was October 28-30.
Hackett had her own booth and signed autographs for those who wanted copies of her winning story.
It was her take on the fairy tale, Little Red Riding Hood with a bit of a twist, “I wrote about Little Red Riding Hood getting revenge on the wolf,” Hackett says.
Her story was submitted to the contest in September, and she received the news last month that it had been chosen as the winner.
At the convention, Hackett says, “I got access to the green room which is limited to guests only, where all of the authors and actors and actresses are. They treated me like royalty,” Hackett says.
Hackett hopes to use her passion for writing in her future career.
