After a two-year hiatus, the traditional Kennebecasis Valley Remembrance Day Parade and Ceremony returned to the qplex.
Doors opened at 9 a.m. and the ceremony began at 10:30 a.m.
The parade had several groups marching in it, including Royal Canadian Legion Branch 58, Sgt. at Arms: MCpl (Ret’d) Kevin Allen CB Canadian Armed Forces, the Technical Services Branch from 5th Canadian Division Support Base Gagetown, Kennebecasis Valley High School Band, the Combined Choir of Rothesay High School & Kennebecasis Valley High, First Responders members of the Kennebecasis Regional Police Force and the Kennebecasis Valley Fire Department.
As well as the Cadets from 268 Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps Bras D’or, 170 Navy League Cadet Corps, RM Cromwell, Luxor Shiners of NB, NB Freemason, and the Kennebecasis Valley Pipe Band.
“It was a very emotional and awarding for everybody in the community and respect and honour to the veterans on parade and those who lost their lives, so it was really nice to see,” mentioned Brian Eisan, president of RCL Kennebecasis Branch 58.
Cpl. (ret’d) George Cooper, one of the last remaining Second World War veterans, was this year’s Reviewing Officer. Cooper laid the wreath on behalf of the fallen comrades.
Others who laid wreaths included Premier Blaine Higgs, MP Rob Moore, Quispamsis Mayor Libby O’Hara, and Rothesay Mayor Nancy Grant.
