The Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station has been taken offline once again.
NB Power released an update on the nuclear generating station on Wednesday.
According to the utility, the move was made in response to a partial loss of power to the station.
“Further assessments are underway to perform maintenance required in order to reconnect the Station to the grid,” NB Power said in a statement.
The work does not pose any risk to employees, the public or the environment, said the utility.
The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission said it was made aware of the partial loss of power around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday.
“At the time of this update, NB Power has not identified any reports of injuries, radiation contamination or spills into environment,” the commission said in a statement.
Point Lepreau was taken offline for a week in early August due to an undisclosed equipment issue.
That outage came less than a week after the generating station came back online following planned maintenance.
Officials said the maintenance outage was supposed to last 10 or 11 weeks but continued for nearly 16 weeks instead.
