For the past 17 years, Kraft Hockeyville has been recognizing communities across Canada for their love of Canada’s winter pastime, and the nominations for Kraft Hockeyville 2023 are now open. This award is organized by Kraft Heinz in partnership with the NHL and the NHLPA. Since its launch, $4.5 million has been awarded to 93 communities to repair aging arenas. Sydney Nova Scotia was named Kraft Hockeyville in 2022. Former NHL defensemen P.K Subban will be assisting with this year’s efforts as the Program Ambassador to help fuel the passion for the sport across Canada.
People submitting nominations for their communities are invited to share their hockey memories and to highlight their hometowns connection to the game. If your community is chosen, there will be a chance to host an NHL preseason game and there is an award of $250,000 up for grabs to go towards arena improvements. This year’s winner and three runners up with receive $10,000 worth of new hockey equipment to allow more children to play the game, courtesy of the NHLPA Goals and Dreams Fund.
Nominations are open until February 19th, and they can be made online at hockeyville.kraftcanada.ca.
