The Saint John Sea Dogs are losing a veteran netminder.
Nikolas Hurtubise is joining the Terrebonne Cobras of the Quebec Junior Hockey League.
“Thank you Nick and good luck with the Cobras!” the Sea Dogs said in a tweet Tuesday.
Hurtubise joined the Sea Dogs in January 2022 following a trade with the Victoriaville Tigres.
The 20-year-old recorded a .897 save percentage and 2.88 GAA in 19 games during the 2021-22 regular season.
During 11 games played in the 2022-23 season, Hurtubise recorded a .872 save percentage and 4.71 GAA.
The Sea Dogs also announced Tuesday that they had signed two players from the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL).
Defenseman Joseph Ianniello, 18, comes from the Navan Grads while 17-year-old right wing Luka Benoit comes from the Nepean Raiders.
Ianniello was second in league scoring for defensemen, registering 25 points in 28 games.
While Benoit registered eight goals and 16 points in 27 games this season, third in scoring for players his age.
“Joseph and Luka were standout players in their league,” said Sea Dogs president and general manager Trevor Georgie. “They fit our age group here and have earned this opportunity.”
The addition of Ianniello and Benoit builds on the free-agent signings of Alex Drover and Harrison Ballard announced by the Sea Dogs on Sunday.
