Voting is now open for the City of Saint John’s Name the Plow competition.
The city partnered with 97.3 The Wave to launch the inaugural contest.
A total of 22 finalists have been chosen from nearly 1,000 submissions.
Due to the number of submissions, the city has decided to name eight plows this year instead of four.
“The trucks cover all areas of the city – north, east, south and west – giving everyone a chance to see one in or near their neighbourhood this winter,” Lisa Caissie, director of external relations, said in a news release.
The names that you can vote on include:
- Courtenay Bay Blade
- Jennifer Snowpez
- Skip the Ditches
- Catch My Drift
- Reversing SnowFalls
- Snow-prah Winfrey
- Oh Snow You Didn’t
- Snow Worries

- Noreaster Beaster
- Meltin’ John
- Buzz Iceclear

According to the city, the shortlist captures a variety of the submissions that were received and chosen based on creativity, a Saint John connection, and humour.
“Werre excited to see what the final names will be after voting and look forward to rolling out the newly named trucks in the weeks ahead,” said Caissie.
Voting is open until noon on Monday, Jan. 30. The winning names will be announced on Tuesday, Jan. 31, and displayed on the sides of the plows for the rest of the 2023 winter season.
