New Brunswick agriculture producers have a new resource to help them find help on their farms.
On February 6, the Agricultural Alliance of New Brunswick (AANB) announced a new job bank available on its AgriNB website.
The AANB is one of the main organizations representing New Brunswick agriculture businesses. It launched the AgriNB.ca website in March of 2022. The resource was made by funding from New Brunswick’s department of post-secondary training and labour, as well as the Canadian Agricultural Partnership.
At the time, the organization said the goal of the site was to give New Brunswick farmers easy access to provincial and national resources, as well as connect them to “operation expansion tools” like human resources best practices and a succession planning guide.
The site also hoped to help prospective farmers find suitable farmland, industry contacts, and new entrant information.
Now, AgriNB is launching its new, agricultural job bank. It calls the webpage “a comprehensive resource for connecting agricultural employers with job seekers in the New Brunswick region.”
Through the job bank, employers can advertise job openings for free. That, AgriNb says, “[promotes] employment opportunities within the agriculture industry and works towards bridging the labour shortage gap.”
“It is essential that producers have access to a reliable workforce so they can successfully run their businesses. Resources like the AgriNB agricultural job bank make it easier to match employers with people looking for work, which will help grow the sector,” the organization says.
In a news release, Minister of Agriculture Margaret Johnson said the job bank is “essential” for agriculture to flourish in New Brunswick.
“We are very happy to have this service up and running, as not only will producers be able to post jobs, but all agricultural job opportunities in NB will be on the site, being funneled from other resources,” she said.
