It’s not often you get a piece of your home province during the Super Bowl, but New Brunswickers did on Sunday night.
An ad, put together by Explore NB recapped highlights from the World Juniors hosted in Moncton and Halifax.
Chamber of Commerce for Greater Moncton CEO John Wishart says this was an opportunity, “To seize on some of the momentum that was created during the World Juniors and the exposure that the province got in terms of tourism during that event.”
The ad that was featured during the TSN feed of the Super Bowl reportedly cost the province around $186,000.
Wishart says it’s too early to tell how it will affect tourism this year, but he is optimistic, “It’s early in the year and people are at the point where they might be making decisions about holiday time later in the year, so why not use one of the biggest television spectacles of the year to get that message out.”
Premier Blaine Higgs also made reference to the ad in his State of the Province address last week, saying “This was an opportunity our team earned thanks to our incredible showing at the World Juniors. Simply outstanding and people want more of it. We have really arrived, but there is so much more to do.”
