Poley Mountain, a New Brunswick ski and mountain biking resort, has received $94,775 of investment through the federal government’s Tourism Relief Fund (TRF).
The money will help the resort upgrade its online ticket and rental equipment booking systems with technology that will make it easier for visitors and collect information on the number of expected visitors in any given period.
The resort will also buy new equipment, including bike hangers on the chair lifts for the mountain biking season, as well as new mountain bikes and e-bikes to rent during the non-ski season.
“The support from ACOA will make a real impact at Poley Mountain. It will assist with our ongoing initiatives to diversify to an all-season tourism destination,” Poley Mountain president Michael MacNeil said in a news release.
The 300-acre resort, located in the upper Bay of Fundy region, has been focusing on expanding year-round experiences. Located about 20 minutes east of Sussex, the resort has 30 skiing trails, eight bike trails, and a large five-storey tower with a scenic view of the mountain and Sussex area.
Ginette Petitpas Taylor, the Minister responsible for Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, made the announcement on behalf of ACOA, which operates the $48.5 million fund for the region.
The TRF was launched in July 2021 to help tourism businesses recover from the impacts of the pandemic shutdowns.
