New Brunswick RCMP have asked for a review of their actions following a recent call in the Woodstock area.
Officers responded to a healthcare facility in the Waterville area on Feb. 8 for a report of a person in mental distress.
“During the response, the individual became aggressive with police and an altercation ensued,” Mounties said in a news release Thursday.
“The individual then attempted to flee from police and sustained self-inflicted injuries as a result.”
The person was treated for their injuries and later taken into police custody, said the release.
Cpl. Hans Ouellette, a spokesperson for New Brunswick RCMP, said they have asked the Nova Scotia Serious Incident Response Team to review their actions “to ensure we did everything we could in our response.”
“The RCMP is committed to accountability and transparency to the communities we serve,” Ouellette said in the release.
